Who are you? The Lorain County Community College Network Gaming Association (LC3NGA) was formed in the summer of 1999 to promote LAN gaming among the college students. Since then we have had over 130 meetings. Our group is just a group of guys who enjoy LAN gaming. We range from students to non-students and late-teens to some old folks. :) We're up for playing all types of games from FPSs, RTSs, Racing,.. you name it! We're all out to just have some fun with a good group of people. When are your LANs? We have our LAN events on the first and third Saturday of every month, unless otherwise noted on the front page. Our LANs start around 12:00 PM and run till about 10:00 PM, if not later on some nights, but we do have to be out by 12 midnight. Occasionally, we will start as early as 10:30, which will be noted on the front page. The date of this month's LANs are posted on every page of our site in the upper left. Any specifics about a LAN will be in the news section of the front page with additional discussion in our forums. This is updated regularily. Where do your LANs take place? Room 122 of the Advance Technologies Building Lorain County Community College 1005 N Abbe Rd Elyria, OH 44035 Click the "Directions" tab at the top of the page for more information. What should I bring? At the very least you should bring your computer! This includes, but is not limited to: - Computer (w/ a 10/100baseT compatible network card) - Monitor - Mouse and pad - Keyboard - Your game discs (along any software/drivers/OS discs you might need in case of problems) - Fairly long power cord(s) - Surge protector - Network cable, at least 10 feet. If you don't have a network cable, we have extras available. - Headphones. (Due to volume problems and the power drain, speakers are NOT PERMITTED) What about food? Definitely bring your own snacks and beverages. Vending machines are available just outside the room also. As for meals, people usually pick up their own food. There are several restaurants in the area: McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC, Arby's, Donatos, Steak & Shake, Subway, etc. We are also into ordering out for pizza when enough people want to. We can make arrangements at that time. We strongly suggest having a meal before coming to the LAN or picking up food before you setup. We like to get started early and avoid people running off for food an hour after they arrive! Our normal dinner break is between 3-5 PM. It's just when we're all hungry and we decide to eat! This is a nice break time when we usually browse the internet, watch crazy videos, manage file transfers and just relax. :) Since most of us pick up food and bring it back, we always leave at least one person in the room so that our gear is safe from theft. We strongly encourage you to eat at about the same time as everyone else. There is no point to a LAN if people are coming and going and there is no one to play games with! Alcohol/Smoking? Because our LAN is on campus, there is a strict no drinking policy, which is enforced by campus security. We also discourage you from participating while drunk. :) It leads to crappy gameplay and obnoxious behavior. There is no smoking in the room or building. You can step outside the building and smoke if you need to, but please follow campus rules on smoking which are posted on the doors and in the building. Out of common courtesy, we request that you do not smoke outside the doors. What games do you play? We play games ranging from FPSs, RTSs and all other variety. For a listing of games, please click the "Games" tab at the top of the page. What if I'm under 18? Because of liability concerns, anyone who is under 18 but still wishes to attend one of our LANs must have a waiver/permission slip signed by their parents. This form is available here. How do I access your forums? - Click the "Msg Board" tab at the top of the page. - Register for an account. - Click the link in the confirmation e-mail which will be sent to you. - Post a message on the "Access Request" board explaining who you are. - One of our moderators will review the post and promote you to full membership.
